Laura Saumtally (b. 1980)

I studied French and Italian at University, before moving on to the London College Of Fashion. There I developed my skills in illustration and life drawing. I have always loved painting and feel my particular style has emerged from my interest in fashion, the human figure and fabrics coupled with my experience and appreciation of the natural world.

I now live and work in East London, as a teacher and painter. I enjoy seeing the creativity of children and am beginning to draw inspiration from my immediate surroundings and experiences here in the East End.

I enjoy working with acrylic paint on canvas, layered with glitter and varnish.
